05 | Case Management: By Tabitha Kroll, Hannah House Case Manager
Paying it Forward: Tabitha Was Trapped in Addiction, Now She’s Dedicated Her Life to Investing in & Mentoring Others
Seven years ago, if you had told me that I would become the Case Manager at Hannah House, I would have laughed and thought you were absolutely crazy. My journey began in 2018 when I arrived at Hannah House broken, trapped in a toxic relationship, and void of respect for myself. I had no knowledge about how to find a job and was potentially facing prison time.
When I first came to Hannah House, I was introduced to a woman who would forever change my life through Case Management. She became my mentor, teaching me fundamental life skills that I’d never learned before. With her support, I obtained my birth certificate, social security card, and driver’s license, which had been suspended. More importantly, she empowered me to think independently and make informed decisions about my future.
Through her guidance, I discovered the love of Jesus Christ, which became the foundation of my transformation. I was shown a love that was unconditional and empowering, sparking a deep desire within me to change my life for the better.
Learning to healthily cope with life’s challenges was another crucial aspect of my journey. I developed strategies to deal with stress and adversity, which helped me regain control over my life. Through this process, I learned to love myself, which allowed me to extend that love to my partner. Together, we put the Lord first in our lives and began to heal from the pain caused by our addiction.
One of the most impactful aspects of my experience was the individualistic approach my case manager took. She understood that each person’s journey is unique and tailored her support to meet my specific needs. She presented me with resources and opportunities that were perfectly aligned with my circumstances, helping me to build a stable and fulfilling life.
Fast forward five years—I am now the Case Manager at Hannah House! I have the incredible opportunity to uniquely serve women in recovery, just as I was once served. Most importantly, I strive to introduce them to the love of Christ, just as it was introduced to me. It is through His love and guidance that true transformation occurs.
My experience at Hannah House has come full circle. What started as a journey of personal healing and growth has now become a mission to help others find the same hope and transformation that I did.
As the Case Manager, I am dedicated to serving the women of Hannah House with the same love, compassion, and individualized support that changed my life. NONE of this would have happened had the Hannah House not existed, I often think about that.
