No. 1: Renewing Rhythms for a New Year

Dear CLDI Family and Friends,

The start of a new year always feels like a fresh canvas—a chance to reflect, dream, and set a new course. For me, this means revisiting and rewriting my spiritual development plan, something I do each year. It’s a way to intentionally shape the rhythms of my days, weeks, months, and year to grow closer to God and live out His purpose with focus and energy.

This year, I’ve added a new rhythm to my plan: memorizing scripture. After writing about the importance of remembering in my last blog, it felt natural to include this practice. Memorizing God’s Word plants truth deep in my heart, allowing it to shape my thoughts and actions in ways I may not even realize at the moment. It’s been a grounding addition, helping me carry God’s promises with me throughout the day.

This season of starting fresh is exciting. It’s a time to approach life with energy and tenacity, trusting that God is leading me into something new. At the same time, these rhythms remind me to rest in Him and not rely on my own strength. Balancing rest and work, remembering and striving, is key to staying grounded as I move forward.

If you’re starting the year with hope and anticipation, I encourage you to consider what rhythms might shape your year. What daily habits will help you stay connected to God? How can you build rest and reflection into your routine? And what practices will help you carry His Word in your heart?

Let’s make this a year where we don’t just chase goals but stay rooted in rhythms that draw us closer to the One who makes all things new.

Living Fearless by Jamie Winship explores how to overcome fear and live a life rooted in one’s true identity and purpose. Drawing from his experiences in high-stakes conflict zones, Winship shares powerful stories and practical insights that illustrate how fear limits personal growth and connection. He emphasizes the importance of seeking God’s truth about who we are, replacing false narratives with a deeper understanding of our identity. Through vulnerability, trust, and listening to God’s voice, Winship provides readers with tools to confront fear, embrace authenticity, and experience freedom, peace, and boldness in every aspect of life.
