Dear CLDI Family and Friends,

It is both with excitement for her and a bit of sadness for us as we announce the retirement of our long time Development Director, Lisa Reinschmidt. After 15 years of tireless work and dedication, Lisa turns the page to a new chapter. We pause with deep gratitude for the journey we’ve walked together. Every relationship built, every dollar given, and every life transformed has been part of a beautiful story written by God’s faithfulness and your generosity.

While Lisa will continue to support CLDI we will deeply miss our daily interactions with her. We’re smiling, though, knowing that her servant’s heart now gets to focus more fully on her family.

With this same spirit of hope and purpose, we are excited to welcome Carey Darlington as CLDI’s new Development Director. Carey brings a servant’s heart, a passion for people and a strong background in organizational leadership and building high functioning teams. We are confident she will continue the work of cultivating meaningful relationships and helping us steward the mission of CLDI with grace and excellence.

Thank you for being part of our story—and for continuing with us as we build into our next chapter.

Currently reading & listening.

On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson introduces readers to the Igiby children—Janner, Tink, and Leeli—who live in the quiet town of Glipwood under the oppressive rule of the venomous Fangs of Dang. Though they seem like ordinary kids, the Igiby siblings begin to uncover deep secrets about their family—secrets that could change the course of their lives and the fate of their world. Full of danger, mystery, humor, and heart, this first installment kicks off an epic journey filled with courage, love, and the fight for freedom.

While this is a kids’ series recommended to me by our Internship Director, Kaylee Thompson, there are rich themes of Christ’s love, hope, and courage woven throughout. This has been a wonderful and light read—one I’d recommend for readers of any age!

CLDI Monthly Snapshot

  • Prayers for the conclusion of the internship for Caven and Skylah and for smooth transitions to what’s next for them. Would you also pray for the finalization of the 25-26 intern class, that the Lord would bring just the right people for the upcoming year!
  • Elle Thompson, our Rail//Line Apprenticeship Director, had her last day on June 26th! Elle served Rail//Line and the staff for three years. We are very sad to see her leave, but excited to see her go on to complete her higher education.

Scripture to Meditate On

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”

Proverbs 16:9

Blessings,

Kaleb Perdew

Dear CLDI Family and Friends, When I was a kid, I wasn’t the worst kid in the class, but I always seemed to be the one who got caught. Whether it was talking too much, lying, or not doing my homework. It felt like I couldn’t hide my mistakes, and at the time, I didn’t...
